The VPN is hosted on the stovallhut.net home router running OPNsense with its support for Open VPN. To get connected and/or setup your computer to connect, see the following instructions.
To connect to the VPN you need need user credentials for a OPNsense account, for a user with access to the VPN - supplied by the hut administrator. You also need a client-setup file supplied to you by the hut administrator. The client setup file will have a .ovpn extension. It is a secure/sensitive file, because it also includes private details about your user certificate, intended to limit VPN access to specific devices.
If you have not yet connected to the VPN, do this first. You need to install the Open VPN Connect app on your computer. Follow this link to install Open VPN Connect v3. (static screenshot below shows button to click on at that site).
Open VPN website (screenshot)
Download and start the client.
At the import-screen select the Upload File tab. Drag and drop or browse to the client-setup file from your administrator, and OpenVPN should setup the connection to public.stovallhut.net automatically.

If you see the option to save your password do not select that. Supply only your username (saved) and press [Connect].
To connect to the VPN, supply the password + otp code when prompted. Note that you will not be prompted for the otp code and must instead supply it as part-of the password. In the password field, first paste your password. Then follow that by also pasting your otp code right after that - no spaces / other.
When successfully connected you see a green switch show next to the connect-info.
Connecting from the phone will include installing the Open VPN app on the phone to make the connection.
The iPhone can connect to the OPNsense VPN OpenVPN Connect (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/openvpn-connect/id590379981). On the iPhone go to the App Store and search for “openVPN”. Choose the result “openvpn connect - openvpn app” (watch out for dead-ends) and press [Get] to install the app.
Download the client-setup file (.ovpn extension) to your phone, following the download link supplied by the hut administrator. Launch the link in the browser on your phone. If this is a bitwarden-send, expect it to have the same password as your OPNsense VPN account. Press the [Download file] button. The file is placed at the top of your iPhone file system.
